How important is your job?

When people go to work, they shouldn’t have to leave their hearts at home.-Betty Bender

When I read this quote I thought of a couple different meanings it can have. 1. Do what you are passionate about. 2. Have fun and laugh a little at work 3. Don’t take work so serious that you miss out on more important things in life……

What meaning can you attribute to this quote?

Comments:
I think it also means:

- you don't have to walk about all day with a poker-faced, reserved, neutral manner;

- business isn't a dry, numbers-based, analytical affair. It can also be about intuition, gut, instinct and feeling.

I think the intuition and gut instinct is what separates the good from the great. Thanks Mark

Rocky - I agree with all of what you said. I think it also means to love those you work with, for, and those who work for you. Tim Sanders' "Love is the Killer App" is what comes to mind with this quote.

Having good relationships with those you work with and for is vital. The Culture of the job may just mean as much as the job itself. people tend to put a high value on the job environment, almost as important as the salary. Thanks.
